becoming vegetarian to reverse health problems

In the past few weeks, it seems to me that a lot of people are turning to veganism or even vegetarianism as as means to reverse health problems. April has turned three middle aged men I know.

Why though? *names have been changed to protect the innocent...

Niko: "I've always had a problem with my weight but only recently did I get motivated to lose it. It's hard to move around freely, because of my joints and my heart gets worked up too easily."

Angelico: "My diabetes has become worse as I've gotten older. The hope is that I can reverse it. Well. Rumor has it. I've been vegan for two months now and lost 13 pounds. I don\\\'t eat crap anymore and eat way smaller portions, surprisingly, vegan diet fills me!"

Autre: "I started cutting out meat slowly from my life because I noticed when I ate it, I was getting bad heartburn. When I eat vegetarian, I am a GOOD full. Then I'd eat steak and realize how bloated and gassy I'd feel. There are great vegetarian restaurants in the city, that's what made me realize how good it can taste."

DEBATED: Some people tell me that I catch more viruses because I'm a vegetarian. And while I do catch colds, it's no more than the average bear. If it was, I'd rather catch three extra colds per year than deal with what these men have had to go through as a direct result of poor diet, lacking in nutrition.

Good on you guys. You know who you are.

And to the others that haven't yet made the leap, what are you waiting for? To reach your fifties (the average age one becomes a veg)? Great, but why not start now?
