Instant Gratification Has Long-Term Consequences!!!

It's something that's often said to me at work when I say "I feel like fries!"... "Help yourself to happiness!". Well, I love it. But do fries really make me happy? Yeah, totally, for the 10 minutes that I'm eating them. Then for the rest of the day I'm regretting it.

How about we DO help ourselves to happiness? Instead of a 10 minute happiness, let's go for the long term happiness that lasts throughout the next day? Take yesterday for example. After waking up at 4:30am with a sick dog (poor Talula!), I stayed awake and went to work. Got back at 5:30pm then did the dishes, fed the dogs, fish and myself. THEN I took on a major 3+ hour challenge of my kitchen and pantry and cupboards. Nightmare on Hoarder St. It felt great, but DURING, I kept saying "Whyyyyy did I decide to do this now?!?!". After this was done, and everything had a new and lovely home - I decided to workout with kettlebells and the treadmill to work up a massive sweat (and it had to be about 9:45 by the time I started).

I helped the shit out of myself to happiness! And it's a great feeling. The greatest things in life aren't usually found through instant gratification. They're found through hard work.

What will you do to help yourself to happiness? Figure it out, and do it tonight.
