Toxic Tampons

We have all heard about toxins in non-organic foods, but what about non-organic tampons?

Regular tampons contain chlorine from a part of the bleaching process. Chlorine creates dioxins in the body which are carcinogenic in the body. This means it can lead to cancer. Sorry time be the bearer of bad news, but it also weakens your immune and reproductive system!
FYI, there is no safe level of dioxin. Period. Oops, that pun was an accident, I swear.

We come into extremely close contact with them for far too many days as far as I'm concerned, so I've made the switch to organic cotton tampons, the brand is "natracare" and I found them at my local health store in the beauty section. They were $5.29 for 20 which isn't much more than the $8.99 for 36 for regular tampons. They don't have an applicator so they have minimal packaging which is great because I hate to fill up the trash can. I can get over the whole "no applicator" thing, I'm sure.

EDIT! I just found some from the same brand WITH an applicator! The price above was from the health food store. I found this brand in the natural section of Loblaw's and they are much more expensive! The same 20 pack w/o applicators was $7.99 and for 16 with an applicator was $8.99. I was desperate but... now I know!
