Green Papaya Salad

Went to the store today to stock up on the usuals including grapefruit, sprouts and spinach. Decided to add green papaya into the arsenal. Not a papaya, a green papaya. What to do with it?

Ingredients
  • Half of a green papaya
  • Two tbsp. Cashews (chopped)
  • Two tbsp. Soy sauce (I use Liquid Braggs)
  • Two handfuls of alfalfa sprouts
  • Half of a large tomato (chopped or sliced)
  • Some tiny little multi colour tomatoes to add some fun (chopped)
  • One tsp. Honey
  • Juice of half a lime
  • One tsp. Olive oil
  • Half tsp. Hot chili flakes (add slowly, yours might be hotter than mine!)

Directions
  1. Peel it with a peeler.
  2. Make sure the seeds are white (this means that it is not ripe... Which is the entire point). Scoop them.
  3. Since I'm not too good with a knife and don't entirely trust myself, I ribboned half of it and put it into a bowl. Add alfalfa sprouts, chopped cashews, soy sauce, hot chili flakes, honey, lime, olive oil and tomato. (which I added after taking this pic!).
Finito. Pretty quick and super full of health benefits. Super. Like duper.

These green vegetables that you are lucky to find (I grabbed mine at an Asian supermarket) are beneficial to your digestive system. This is probably the most important aspect to many people, as a vast amount of people have some woes! It will help relieve indigestion, diarrhea and the opposite... Constipation. This is all because of papain, the active digestive enzyme.

I also want to point out other important health benefits. It can help lower your blood pressure and boost your cardiovascular health! It's a food to eat when you are feeling run down, as it helps to your immune system. Yay. So it really is the perfect time to get a hold of these medium sized miracles. Also, they have anti cancer properties.

I'm going to make this for all of my loved ones because I want them to be healthy.
